This week(13-19): APPLE PIE



Apple pie is a fruit pie in which the main filling ingredient are apples. The pastry is generally used top-and-bottom, making a double-crust pie, the upper crust may be a pastry lattice woven of strips.

The best cooking apples are crisp and acidic. The fruit for the pie can be fresh, canned, or reconstituted from dried apples. This affects the final texture, and the length of cooking time required; whether it has an effect on the flavour of the pie is a matter of opinion.

This week(20-26): Banoffee Pie


Banoffee Pie is what you get when you cross Banana, Toffee, and Pie.







Banoffee pie is a dessert made from biscuits, bananas, butter, cream and boiled condensed milk (or dulce de leche). Its name is a portmanteau constructed from the words "banana" and "toffee".

Inventorship of the pie is claimed by Ian Dowding and Nigel Mackenzie of The Hungry Monk restaurant in Jevington, East Sussex. They claim to have invented the pie in 1972, and the restaurant's exterior bears a plaque to that effect. The recipe was never patented, however, and in 1994 a number of supermarkets began selling it as an American pie, leading Dowding and Mackenzie to offer a £10,000 prize to anyone who could disprove their claim.

The traditional way of preparing the condensed milk is to boil the unopened can for 3-5 hours to produce toffee, though this can be extremely dangerous as if the water evaporates the can may explode.

There is some discussion over the best spelling for the pie's name; The Hungry Monk preferring "banoffi" where the logical etymological spelling would be "banoffee", to correspond with "toffee". Other variations include "banoffy" and "bannofie".

This week(27-03): CHERRY PIE



Cherry pie is a pie made with a cherry filling, and is one of the best known pies in American culinary tradition.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare pie pastry.

In a large bowl, combine sugar and tapioca. Add cherries; stir until well blended. Pour into pastry-lined plate; sprinkle with almond extract and dot with butter or margarine. Cover with remaining pastry and flute. Cut slits in pastry so steam can escape. Cover edge with aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning.

Place pie on baking sheet. Bake approximately 45 to 50 minutes or until crust is golden brown and juice begins to bubble through slits on crust. Remove aluminum foil during last 15 minutes of baking. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack before cutting and serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Makes 8 to 10 servings.

This week(04-10): BANANA CREAM PIE



Banana cream pie is the banana type of cream pie. The dessert came from China usually with these ingredients: a baked pie crust (sometimes made from graham flour), sugar, flour, salt, milk, eggs, butter, vanilla, and bananas and a banana flavored crust.

Note: DON'T EAT THIS PIE IT'S... IT'S... IT'S NOT GOOD... JUST DON'T EAT IT. RITUAL DOESN'T LIKE IT.

This week(011-17): BLUEBERRY PIE




Blueberry pie is composed of blueberry filling. The filling can be in the form of blueberry jam or actual blueberries. It can also be in the combination of the two. Blueberry pie is a bit less sweet than blackberry pie. Blueberry pie usually requires sugar equal to 1/5 cups of blueberries, while blackberry pie requires only a sprinkling of sugar for taste. The blueberries don't need be stewed or soaked in water prior to baking while blackberry pie blueberries do need to be soaked before baking in order to prevent burning.

Because of Christmas I am talking about fruitcake.

It's a cake made of dried fruits and usually served at Christmas.
At Christmas parties, it is a tradition for everyone to eat fruitcake and everyone pertends to like it.
